Koncert z okazji 35 lecia istnienia Zespołu Pieśni i Tańca LAJKONIK \nWe invite you to join The Lajkonik Ensemble as we continue to celebrate our 35th year. Our Spring Concert will present numerous breathtaking performances of Polish folk song and dance. In addition\, we will celebrate Spring holiday season with songs and folk customs. \nLajkonik’s mission is much deeper than promoting Polish folk culture through artistic dances\, passionate songs and colorful performances throughout the United States. We aim to acquaint Polish-Americans with the richness of their thousand year-old heritage\, and to help build pride in Polish Americans through performances of traditional dance and song. 

Lajkonik has graced many stages including those of the Chicago Cultural Center\, the Children’s Museum\, Daley Plaza\, the Taste of Chicago\, Millennium Park\, Navy Pier and Polish Fest in Milwaukee. The Ensemble has represented the Chicago Polish Community several times at the International Folk Dance Festival in Rzeszów\, Poland and International Youth Folk Dance Festival in Iwonicz Zdroj\, Poland. They have also entertained international audiences in Canada\, Austria\, Italy\, Greece\, Croatia and Mexico. \nW atmosferze 35. rocznicy istnienia zespołu serdecznie zapraszamy na niezapomnianą galę tańca. 100-osobowy zespół\, tańczący w sześciu grupach wiekowych zaprezentuje się w setkach oryginalnych\, wirujących tęczą kostiumach sprowadzanych z Polski. \nZapraszamy do obejrzenia widowiska\, będącego prezentacją imponującego dorobku artystycznego zespołu. Wśród najpiękniejszych punktów repertuarowych z przeszłości\, zaprezentujemy nowości przepełnione miłością do folkloru i zachwytem nad rodzimym pięknem. \nLajkonik od lat uczestniczy w koncertach oraz festiwalach na terenie Stanów Zjednoczonych. Coroczne przedstawienia w salach widowiskowych\, zyskały sympatię publiczności i przyczyniły się do tego\, ze zespół 9 razy reprezentował Polonię chicagowską na Światowych Festiwalach Polonijnych Zespołów Folklorystycznych w Rzeszowie i kilka razy w Iwoniczu Zdroju i Kielcach. All my revues to date have taken place at the Copernicus Center-the most prestigious Polish theater in the USA\, and one already steeped in legend. Since I am an artist myself-even though I earn my living through a private business- I wanted to honor other Chicago-based Polish artists whom I admire. I wished to showcase them on such a\nbeautiful stage and introduce them to a broader audience\, rather than limiting them to the confined crowds of small restaurant venues. Since the month of May coincides with Mother’s Day-both in USA and in Poland-we dedicate this concert to the memory of our mother. The title of the concert will be “Dia Ciebie Mamo” which translates as “For You\, Mom”. These words refer to the famous song by Violetta Villas “Do Ciebie Mamo”. Since a song by Violetta Villas in some way inspired the title of this concert\, we shall now enjoy a short recital of songs from her repertoire-an artist whose initials\, VV.\, coincide with the original designation for a revue: V.V(iva\,L\nThe star of our revue will be Andrzej Cierniewski a renowned and highly esteemed Polish- diaspora artist\, whose beautiful and nostalgic pieces are widely known both in Poland and in Chicago. These include Marek Kalinowski\, a magnificent multi-instrumentalist\, composer\, vocalist and certified accordionist; Andrzej Dylewski\, the former drummer of the famous Polish band Lady Pank\, as well as a composer and educator; Julianna Hajdasz Pogorzelski\, a magnificent vocalist endowed with a voice of exceptional timbre and range\, She has been a shining ornament of the Polish stage in Chicago for nearly 40 years-a wonderful musician\, the leader of “Julia i My” band; Bart Zielinski\, a composer\, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist-and son of Andrzej Zielinski\, founder of the legendary Polish band Skaldowie; Agnieszka Topolska\, a singer\, cabaret artist\, an creative journalist; Slawomir Maciejczyk\, an artist with wide-ranging musical interests and a multi- instrumentalist as well as a vocalist: Pawel Kobierski\, a composer\, vocalist\, guitarist and passionate enthusiast of 90s music; Helena Studencka-a renowned Polish-diaspora vocalist\, as well as a radio and educational activist. Also\, Barbara Szymanska-a vocalist and poet who wrote over dozen songs about mother. Additionally\, there will be performances by Chicago’s only Polish cabaret “Nie Wiadomo Co”with Radek Karczmarczyk and Agnieszka Topolska. A surprise awaits the audience: a medley of beautiful dances and songs performed by the “Lira Ensemble”\, under the direction of Iwona Puc-a protege of distinguished Lucyna Migala!\nPrevious revues were filmed by distinguished filmmakers Mitch Bochnak and Bogdan Miller. This year\, too\, Mich Bochnak’s team (M.Bochnak\, B.Miller\, M.Kierski) will record every performance and professionally produce the video documentation of this beautiful event. DESCRIPTION:Date: October 9\, 2026\, at 8:00 pm \nDoors: 6:30 pm \n \nIMPORTANT:\nTickets are available exclusively online. \nBIO \nTito Nieves\, born Humberto Nieves on June 4\, 1958\, in Río Piedras\, Puerto Rico\, is known as the “Pavarotti of Salsa” for his clear and powerful voice. Moving to New York City as a child\, he grew up in a family of musicians & began his professional career in 1975 with Orquesta Cimarrón. He later worked with Héctor Lavoe\, debuted with Johnny Ortiz’s Taibori in 1978\, and co-founded Conjunto Clásico\, recording eight albums with the group before launching his solo career. His solo debut Classic (1988) went gold\, followed by Yo Quiero Cantar (1989)\, which also went gold and featured the groundbreaking English-language salsa hit “I’ll Always Love You.” His 1990 album Déjame Vivir achieved platinum status\, and I Like It Like That (1997)\, an all-English salsa album\, brought mainstream exposure\, including a performance with Stevie Wonder at the Alma Awards. Tito’s later albums\, including Dale Cara a la Vida (1998) and Clase Aparte (1999)\, showcase his blend of salsa\, pop\, and R&B influences.
