The Bulls Jazz Nightclub was a unique late-night Jazz club built into a laundry room of a history neighborhood called Lincoln Park, located close to the Lincoln Park Zoo at the corner of Lincoln and Lincoln Park West. The Bulls was once considered the oldest, continuously open music Club in Chicago. Its unique qualities were its wonderful staff and the low ceiling, textured, smooth plastered walls, painted flat pink and signature candelabra. The room was entirely lit by candle-lit and held an elegant ambience. This event is a return to yesteryear and a benefit for the South Side Jazz Coalition, ‘SSJC” which was founded in 2015 to continue the legacy of Chicago tenor saxophonist Earl LaVon Freeman’s free weekly jazz jam which ran for over 40 years and gave south side musicians, young and old, local and international a place to gather and share music. With a board comprised of music professionals, educators, and community activists, this nonprofit organization resolves to continue the legacy of promoting the great African American music the world applauds as jazz throughout Chicago. We thank our media partners at WDCB and Chicago Jazz Magazine.
